Hello! My name is Denise, and I’m the owner, designer, decorator and slightly crazy person behind the scenes of The Shabby Chickadee. My handsome and hardworking husband, Jeff and I have been together for more than 25 years and we have 2 adult sons, who have flown the coop! We are still trying to get used to being “empty-nester’s”!  We are located in a “quietly progressive” small Iowa town surrounded by cattle pastures and crop fields. Where we know almost everyone and most people wave when they see you pass by. We owned a full service floral and gift shop in our county for almost 16 years and after selling that business, my husband informed me that I was too young to retire! So, I did a little self-evaluation and as a result the idea for this new store was born!  I have a passion for decorating and a need in my heart to create.  I enjoy helping people and inspiring others to be creative...it's like therapy! So, I combined these things together to bring you a unique little market and paint studio with some Southern Iowa style.  It's "Not too Shabby", if I do say so myself! 😉
